How many people use RTS in a week?
Approximately 250,000 people use RTS every week.

What will happen to the bus stops on Main Street when Rochester Central Station is complete?
People will still board buses on Main Street at route bus stops; passengers will transfer at Rochester Central Station.

Where is the money coming from to fund this project?
Funds are coming from a combination of federal and state dollars.  If we fail to access available monies for this project, another city will.

Will this project take money away from other proposed downtown projects?
No.  The funding for Rochester Central Station is separate from funding for other proposed downtown projects.

Will there be a shuttle from Rochester Central Station to the Rochester train station?  The proposed fast ferry?  The Airport?
Yes, there will be shuttle service available from Rochester Central Station to the train station, the fast ferry launch and the Greater Rochester International Airport.

Why can't this project be built at the existing train station?
There are 150,000 people a week who access buses downtown on Main Street.  The train station is six blocks north of Main Street and facilitates the travel of just 2,000 people a week.

What will this project cost me as a taxpayer?
No local tax dollars will be used for the construction of the Rochester Central Station project.

Once started, how long will the project take to complete?
The project is expected to take a little over two years to complete.

How will the transit center help disabled people?
The new transit center will help people with a variety of disabilities.  Today, it is extremely difficult for visually impaired people to find their particular bus, and additionally, it is very hard for people in wheelchairs to navigate snow filled sidewalks.  The transit center will eliminate both of those challenges, along with many others.
